What it is
Silk momme (this site uses id silk-momme, not momme) is a silk fabric-weight trade unit: 1 momme = 4.3306 g/m². It is not the Japanese mass momme of 3.75 g. Sewing pages never link to mass momme.
How to use
First momme × 4.3306 = gsm, then / 33.9057 ≈ oz/yd². 16 momme ≈ 2.04 oz/yd². The converter does both steps.
oz/yd² = mmme × 0.127724658
Example: 1 mmme = 0.127724658 oz/yd²
Common uses
Scarves about 8 momme; blouses 12-16 momme; charmeuse 19-22 momme. 1 momme ≈ 4.33 g/m². For buying silk and checking weight.
Conversion tips
A larger number is heavier. 8 momme ≈ 34.6 gsm; 16 momme ≈ 69.3 gsm; 22 momme ≈ 95.3 gsm. Do not mix with denim oz or mass momme.
